OL 5-0 OM: first defeat for the Marseille women's side
The Marseille women's side suffered a heavy defeat (5-0) on Saturday evening at the Groupama Stadium, in the 6th matchday of the Arkema Première Ligue. It is their first defeat of the season.
Marseille's women travelled to Lyon unbeaten in the league. The evening got off to a poor start: as early as the 4th minute, Paralluelo opened the scoring. The Olympiennes responded and found solutions to break out of the press. From a Garbino corner, Elisor directed a cross header that was pushed away by Endler (15'). A few minutes later, Bourdieu played Fleury in behind, but the move was flagged offside (20').
The match then turned within a quarter of an hour. Dumornay doubled the lead (26'). OM then conceded two penalties, converted by Dumornay (31') and Hegerberg (40'). The score stood at 4-0 at half-time.
After the break, Nicolas Chabot's players showed a different side. They settled into the opposition half and strung together several good spells. After a quick outlet pass from Burns, Lavogez found Garbino in the box, but her shot was kept out by Endler (55'). Emily Burns made a decisive intervention to deny Chawinga (58') before Hegerberg added a fifth goal (71'). Burns got in the way again to block Becho (77'), and Ouédraogo kept trying until the end (80').
Despite this defeat, Marseille remain 4th with 9 points (2 wins, 3 draws). They will be back on home soil in Martigues for the next matchday, facing Nantes, their closest challengers.
