OM win the Senior Mediterranean Cup
Our R1F team won the Mediterranean Cup on penalties against Monaco United.
For this Mediterranean Cup final in Cagnes-sur-Mer, our R1F side faced Monaco United, managed by former Monaco and PSG player Marco Simone.
Both teams engaged in a real back-and-forth battle in a highly entertaining match. Our Olympiennes opened the scoring through Semy Neves as early as the 10th minute. Monaco equalised for the first time on the quarter-hour mark. Neila Dahmani then restored OM's lead ten minutes before the break.
In the second half, the Côte d'Azur side levelled again. As the final whistle approached, Carla Rebour missed a penalty that would have put the Marseillaises back in front. The winner of the final was therefore decided on penalties. In the shootout, the Marseillaises held their nerve: Rebour, Boina Ali, Neves and Iyombé Lema all scored, while our towering and talented goalkeeper Elisa Gautier saved two efforts from the Principality's players.
The Marseillaises could let their joy overflow and lift the well-deserved trophy.
