Goals on Nicolas Chabot's debut
For their first pre-season match, the Marseille women's team were held to a draw on Lyon's ground against Thonon Évian Grand Genève (4-4).
With six summer signings in the starting line-up, this action-packed match got off to the best possible start for the Marseille women's side, with Claire Lavogez opening the scoring (12', 0-1).
Pegged back by the Haute-Savoie side just before the half-hour mark, Maureen Cosson and her teammates endured a difficult start to the second half. Following changes to almost the entire starting eleven, Marseille conceded 3 goals in the space of ten minutes (49', 50', 55', 4-1).
However, Nicolas Chabot's players refused to give up: Jody Brown sparked a comeback (65', 4-2), before Sintia Cabezas pulled another goal back (66', 4-3). Showing real character, club academy product Jenny Perret equalised in the 70th minute (4-4) with a textbook team move.
A first squad run-out for Nicolas Chabot and plenty of lessons learned for Mathilde Bourdieu and her teammates, who will take on Espanyol Barcelona later this week to round off their pre-season training camp in Spain.
